PROGRAMME COUNTRIES AND TERRITORIES

The programme has a broad geographical scope and is open to members of the Hungarian diaspora community residing in any country outside the European Union, the Republic of Serbia, and the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine.

Applicants must hold citizenship of one of the eligible countries participating in the programme.

Obtaining the Diaspora Recommendation Letter

A key prerequisite for submitting an application is obtaining a Diaspora Recommendation Letter, which may be issued by:

    • a Hungarian diaspora organisation, or
    • the Hungarian Diplomatic Mission (embassy or consulate) responsible for your place of residence.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant diaspora organisation or diplomatic mission at least 1–2 months prior to the application deadline, as the issuance process may require additional time.

The geographical scope of the programme is very wide. The scholarship is available for the members of a Hungarian diaspora community living in any country outside of the European Union, the Republic of Serbia or the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine. Applicants are required to be citizens of one of the countries involved in the programme.

Acquiring a Diaspora Recommendation Letter issued by a Hungarian diaspora organisation or the local Hungarian embassy or consulate is an important prerequisite to applying. It is recommended that applicants contact the diaspora organisations or diplomatic missions 1 or 2 months prior to the application deadline.
