The holders of the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship and their peers of the Carpathian Basin studying at the Balassi Training Programmes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade met in the capital of Zemplén County, the city of Sátoraljaújhely to develop personal relations for the first time.
The students of Hungarian descent, coming from all around the world, are studying at the various programmes and universities of the country. The first convention of the students of the Hungarian diaspora was organised by the Rákóczi Association at the Rákóczi Hotel, Camping and Event Venue in the city of Sátoraljaújhely. Almost 150 students attended the event.
During the weekend scholarship holders had the chance to participate in multiple presentations: they were introduced to the Hazajáró Programme and television show. On Saturday, students travelled to Széphalom where they first visited the Museum of Hungarian Language and then the Kazinczy Ferenc Museum. Commemorating their visit to the Kazinczy estate and as an acknowledgement of heeding Petőfi’s admonition, students could write their own letters by hand and affixed them with a seal with the text “Széphalom”.
Following the professional and cultural events, the night was about leisure: a wine tasting and a folk dance hall concluded the programme of the weekend.
The event was organised by the Rákóczi Association at the Rákóczi Hotel, Camping and Event Venue.
