Tuition-free education & Monthly stipend
The main perk – your tuition is covered. No huge payments or debts, just worry-free learning. On top of that, scholarship holders also receive a monthly stipend of:
- HUF 43,700 (cca. 124 USD) / month for non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and one-tier master’s level programmes
- HUF 140,000 (cca. 396 USD) for the first phase of education (4 semesters) & HUF 180,000 (cca. 509 USD) for the second phase (4 semesters) for doctoral-level programmes
Medical insurance
While exploring a new country and excelling in your studies, taking care of your health is important. To support it, the Diaspora scholarship provides health care services and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca. 184 USD) per year. No need to worry about medical bills in the middle of an exam period! Use your insurance and get the check-ups you need.
Accommodation contribution & free dormitory place
Whether you choose to live in a dorm or rent an apartment, housing can be expensive. But don’t worry, you will also receive support in this crucial matter! Scholarship holders are entitled to a free place at their university’s dorm (depending on institutional capacity), or a housing contribution of HUF 40,000/month (cca. 113 USD) in case of renting a room or apartment.
Travel contribution: one-off travel allowance & Hungary pass
Do you live far from Hungary, and want to reduce your relocation costs? If the distance between Budapest and your place of residence is 8,000 km or more, you are entitled to a one-occasion travel allowance of HUF 330,000 (cca. 933 USD).
Besides that, your limitless travel within Hungary is also granted: the price of your monthly Hungary Pass, which allows you to travel throughout the whole country (e.g. trains and interurban buses in all counties) is reimbursable too!
