3-Day Trip to Pécs & Mohács (Busójárás) – HÖOK Diaspora Mentoring Program Event
Explore the historic charm of Pécs, dive into authentic Hungarian culture, and experience the magic of the Busójárás!
This unique tradition is acknowledged by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, and the masquerades, folk music and dance performances, children’s activities, gastro events and handicraft fairs attract several thousand visitors. This tradition is also present in the belief systems of other nations, belonging to the family of festivals that bid farewell to winter, welcome spring, provide protection, and involve fertility rituals. It shares similarities with the carnivals in Rio and Venice, as well as with the customs of African people.
Come with us and learn more about this folk tradition on the weekend of 28 February – 2 March 2025.
