Visiting the nuclear reactor of BME
Delve into the world of nuclear power and scientific innovation by visiting a real-life nuclear
reactor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)!
Designed in the 1960’s by Hungarian engineers and physicists, this 100kW light water
moderated and cooled reactor is still used to this day to train and further advance the
research of Budapest’s finest students and academics.
Please note: The guided tour requires a minimum of 10 participants, we kindly ask that you
to sign up only if your attendance is certain!
Meeting Point: Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) Building R, Main Entrance
Time and date: Monday, 2nd June, 12:30.
Please don’t be late, as we need to do some paperwork before we can start the tour.
This program is mainly for first-year diaspora students, therefore alumni students’
registration might be deleted. We are planning to open the registration again for alumni and
for those who are on the waiting list, if there are free spaces. We would like to draw your
attention that if you are unable to attend our program, please notify us via the provided
email address. In case you do not cancel your registration 24 hours before the program on
three occasions, we will not be able to secure a spot for you in our programs. Please be
aware that others also sign up for the programs, and it may happen that you take someone
else’s place, not to mention the financial implications of the program. Thank you for your
