Explore the historic charm of P\u00e9cs, dive into authentic Hungarian culture, and experience the magic of the Bus\u00f3j\u00e1r\u00e1s!<\/span><\/p>\n

This unique tradition is acknowledged by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, and the masquerades, folk music and dance performances, children\u2019s activities, gastro events and handicraft fairs attract several thousand visitors. This tradition is also present in the belief systems of other nations, belonging to the family of festivals that bid farewell to winter, welcome spring, provide protection, and involve fertility rituals. It shares similarities with the carnivals in Rio and Venice, as well as with the customs of African people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Come with us and learn more about this folk tradition on the weekend of 28 February \u2013 2 March 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

2025. 28 February, Friday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Around 16h00: Departure for P\u00e9cs by private bus<\/span><\/p>\n

2025. 01 March, Saturday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Common guided programs in the city, then informal programme after dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n

2025. 02 March, Sunday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, going to Moh\u00e1cs where we participate in the Bus\u00f3j\u00e1r\u00e1s festivities, then in the late afternoon hours we leave for Budapest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Around 21h00: Arrival in Budapest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attention: fertility is one of the central themes of this folk tradition. In line with ancient customs, the Bus\u00f3s depict this aspect, which may be uncomfortable for some in today’s perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n

We would also like to draw your attention that if you are unable to attend our program, please notify us via the provided email address. In case you do not cancel your registration 48 hou rs before the program on three occasions, we will not be able to secure a spot for you in our programs anymore. Please be aware that others also sign up for the programs, and it may happen that you take someone else’s place, not to mention the financial implications of the program. We would like to inform you that in our programs, including the Bus\u00f3j\u00e1r\u00e1s event, first-year diaspora scholarship recipients will be given preference. Therefore, even though you may have been accepted into the program according to the website, you might still miss out if there is another first-year participant who did not get in. We manually manage this on the website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following criteria will be considered when the registration period closes:<\/span><\/p>\n

– First-year mentee with a diaspora scholarship<\/span><\/p>\n

– First time in the event<\/span><\/p>\n

– Time of application<\/span><\/p>\n
