DESCRIPTION:\nDear Mentees,\nDiscover one of Hungary’s most iconic folk traditions!\nJoin us for a two‑day cultural trip to Pécs and the world‑famous Busójárás in Mohács on February 14–15, 2026.\nThe Busójárás is not only one of Hungary’s best‑known folk customs, but part of a wider family of rituals found across many cultures. These celebrations bid farewell to winter, welcome spring, offer protection, and celebrate fertility. The Mohács tradition is also linked to a local legend from the time of the Turkish occupation, giving the festival a powerful historical and mythical atmosphere.\nProgram Overview\nFebruary 14 – Saturday\n\nDeparture by bus from Budapest, Déli Railway Station in the morning around 6:30 PM.\nFull‑day visit in Pécs\nZsolnay Cultural Quarter\nPécsi Püspökség\nCity walk and sightseeing\nOvernight stay in Pécs\n\n(Participants from Pécs may join locally; they will receive separate meeting details.)\nFebruary 15 – Sunday\n\nTravel to Mohács to experience the Busójárás\nFree time to explore events and attractions\nDeparture to Budapest around 18:30\nArrival at Déli Railway Station: approx. 21:30\n\n(Please note: we will not return to Pécs on the way back.)\nAdditional Information\n\nTransportation, accommodation, breakfast, and all planned programs are included.\nLunch and dinner are not provided; please plan your meals individually.\nParticipants from Pécs may request support for return travel costs.\nPlease email pallag.sara@hook.hu by February 13, 2026.\n\nDetails: HÖOK Diaspora Mentoring Program ( https://diaszporamentor.hu/ )\n \n\n
